BTNDC SCORE
41/50

Hide Above makes the most of its position. The views over Green Park and the light-filled dining room create a sense of calm before the first course arrives, and the room feels designed to let an afternoon or evening unfold rather than rush towards a conclusion. This is the elevated part of Ollie Dabbous's Hide, but the experience is not about altitude alone. It is about space: space around the table, space on the plate and enough quiet for the details to register.
The food is light, elegant and pure. A set lunch and tasting menu both show the kitchen's preference for clarity, with matching wine flights giving the meal a carefully judged line from first course to last. Preparation is beautiful, but the refinement never becomes brittle. Ingredients retain their character, textures are allowed to make a point and the accompanying flavours seem chosen for length rather than spectacle. The cooking rewards concentration, though it never makes concentration feel like work.
The guiding idea is simple but demanding: layers of attention to detail, skill and care elevate the good into the great and the great into the sublime. There is no compromise, and there is no rush. That philosophy can sound lofty, yet at the table it expresses itself practically — in timing, in the quiet accuracy of service and in the confidence to leave a dish alone when it is complete. True hedonists linger Above. We understand why. This is fine dining that values stillness, purity and the pleasure of giving an evening proper time.
